Here are my guidelines for posting on a blog, and what are important rules to follow on the web.
- Always be a grammar nazi, so check for your spelling and make sure you use the appropriate use of a word; it's not "your a smart guy", it's "you're a smart guy".
- Never use your last name on ANY website for ANY reason, unless it's for school or you know what you're getting into.
- Always use courtesy when posting. If you're an atheist, I wouldn't suggest using the Lord's name in vain.
- Don't write about other's without their permission first.
- Make sure you write facts, and not any biased opinions. If what you think is true, but aren't sure, make sure to tell your audience that you don't know for sure.
- Try not to start using your sailor language, even though it might be fun. People might just take offense to that.
- Don't be hating on other people or their opinion, even if you think it's stupid. Just silently laugh at it and move on, or tell them what you think it should be, but make sure it isn't insulting or degrading.
- Always keep safety in mind when on the internet. There are several thousand people just waiting to get your address or phone number.
- If you think that a website is a bad website to visit, then don't visit it!
- And lastly, make sure that if you're at school and blogging for a class, do make it education oriented and not about the picnic plans you have for your girl or guy.
